Three for Two

Since I am on holiday, I tend to cook and read a bit more and write less; which means that in the coming weeks you’ll probably find mostly recipes, and maybe a few book reviews too, on this blog.

Here are the links to my three favorite recipes for challah:

Quick Challah at Frugal Kosher

Claudia Roden’s classic

Ima’s Challah (not my Ima’s) at Not Derby Pie, my latest find but also my favorite now

  1. My favorite advice regarding challah baking comes from Jeff Nathan in Adventures of Jewish Cooking. Assuming one is using only white flour (it doesn’t work with whole grains), get the consistency of the challah dough to the point where it feels like a baby’s tush.

I never follow a recipe anymore while baking challah…

The photos on Ima’s Challah is making my mouth water.

  2. I love the photo!

I will check out the recipes. My favorite challah is made by my son-in-law, Allan. I don’t have his recipe…it is a secret…lol.

  3. I wish I had time to make challah! However, my BJF makes fabulous challah and luckily for me, I get to spend most Friday evenings with him, being wonderfully entertained, fed, watered and pampered. So, I can manage for now!
